Welcome to GERN NW, a website for German language speakers in the Pacific Northwest of the United States and Canada.
GERN is an acronym for German Enthusiast Regional Network. We celebrate and promote the German language, as well as the culture, community, business, and international relations associated with German-speaking countries such as Austria, Germany, Lichtenstein, and Switzerland. The German language is spoken in many other parts of the world as well, from other regions of Europe (including South Tyrol in Italy, Northern Schleswig in Denmark, Styria in Solvenia, and Upper Silesia in Poland) to many other areas where immigrants from these countries moved to such as the United States and Brazil. Of course, there are also communitities in which individuals simply enjoy speaking German.
A few of the topics we like to cover here on GERN NW include architecture, art, automobiles, business, culture, film, food, heritage, history, literature, music, people, politics, technology...among many others.
